Orange

19 05 2009

I absolutely love the colour orange!

It’s such a happy, warm and summery colour.  So, I’ve been working on some bright orange bags for the summer.  I hope they cheer you up if you need it. Or that they simply make you smile. Which is your favourite?

New Shopping Bags

7 05 2009

Yet more new bags on my website: Alex Original Handbags.

Why not take the time to check them out, to see all the details.  For example the lining in each is different, as it always as it needs to match the exterior of the bag.  The opal and the blue cord bags are the same on the front and the back, what I mean is that I repeated the ribbon and buttons on both sides as a mirror image.  On the pink bag the flower is actually a silk-screen print from a local artist, Kerstin Lichtblau, she is the one who had provided me with the bird prints last year.  It’s actually in my goals for this year to learn how to print.  My sister will be coming in June and I’m hoping that she will teach me.

I like them all and couldn’t tell you which is the favourite. Which is yours?

The spring is here!

2 04 2009

The spring is finally here!  The last few days have been nice and sunny outside and that has spread into my workshop and my mood.

I’ve even managed to buy some great new fabrics that matches this mood and feeling.  What happy colours!  Even if the weather hadn’t improved a bag made out of these great materials would have lifted up any grey mood.

You almost need sunglasses!

I love them all and am sooooo pleased with my choices.

As soon as I got home I got straight to work as I was so inspired.  Here are the first of my new collection of bright bags, there are many more in planning. I just can’t keep up with all the ideas I have at the minute.

To be honest, it will be hard to part with them!  Which is your favourite?

Be sure to pop around again soon to see what I create with all the other bright and happy materials!

Colourful Shopping Bags

23 03 2009

Why not be the person with the most stylish and colourful shopping bag next time you go into town?

            bags-2164 bags-2185

These aren’t just super funky and fun, they are also very sturdy, practical and of course, like all my bags these are one-of-a-kind!  You will never, ever, meet anyone with the same bag, doesn’t matter which country you live in.  There is only one of each of these. To see more pictures and read all the details go to: my site!

More new totes!

11 03 2009

Wow the feedback so far for these new-shaped tote bags has been great.  Now, I don’t know how I could have ever doubted them. I added two of these to my website this morning.  I hope you will like them too. I’ve done the changes that I mentioned in my last blog entry about these too.

I’ve added another pleat, so it’s super poofy, which I love.  I also added a small interior pocket so that you don’t need to search for your mobile or keys. But I kept the one partition as many people have asked for them in the past. Lastly I lengthened the straps a little so that you can wear these with a jacket or coat. You’ll have to go check out the rest of the pictures on my site, the linings are really bright!

New Tote Design

5 03 2009

The experimenting continues.

Yesterday and this morning I’ve been working on a new tote pattern.  I want a more feminine shape to the one I presently make.  I also thought that I could somehow combine my present Tote and Round Handbag to produce something in between.

 Tote Round Handbag

So the goal was to produce something strong that you can stuff full of important and not so important stuff.  But still feminine and unique.  That could be closed at the top, which is a comment I have often had about my totes.  But I really wanted to remove the need for zippers as they are so difficult to sew in especially in a circular shape and expensive to buy.

The result is:

I think it still needs some tweaking but I quite the look of it.  I’m thinking of adding more pleats and interior pockets, what do you think? Are those good ideas?

I would love some suggestions or ideas from you all.

New SALE Category

13 01 2009

I’m happy to say that one of the biggest points on my ‘To do’ list I mentioned last week can now be crossed off. :-)  I have created a new category on my Website offering many bags at discounted prices.  The reason why they are on sale is because I have since changed the patterns and these are the last ones left in these styles.

For example the two messenger bags have denim straps rather than black polyester ones, which I think looks better but this means that they are non-adjustable.

Another example are the make up bags.  The two on sale are both sooooo cute but again I now make them differently.  This is your chance to get a one-of-a-kind ALEX original handbag at a cheap, cheap price!  Hopefully you find something you like.

In the SALE you will also find a super nice shoulder bag, a triangular bag and some funky totes or shopping bags. So have fun shopping!

New Shopping Bags

19 11 2008

So, as promised here are the new Shopping Bags or Totes that I’ve made so far this week. I’ve just added these to my online shop actually.  I’ve not gotten much done this week to be honest, as I’ve had a really bad cold and have been feeling rather under the weather.  My ‘to do’ list is getting longer rather than shorter at the minute.

I quite pleased with these though, just wish there were twice as many to share with you.  I hope you find something you like!

New Bags

2 10 2008

I’ve just added a few bags to my website, I particularly like the Grey Shoulder Bag. The shape of these is great, the bag hangs really well.  I added the picture of the bags on the mannequin to try to demonstrate this.  It basically molds itself to your body and you don’t feel it anymore. To be totally honest I really like the orange one too… I couldn’t say which is my favourite…  Can you?

I also added some Shopping Bags or Totes to the site. The lilac one is much simpler than my normal bags but I find that a nice change.  The colour is simply superb and it’s also really soft to the touch, which sadly you can’t feel…  you’ll have to believe me.  Plus the lining offers plenty colour :-) The flowery material I used for the right-hand bag has been very popular so far.  I’ve also used it to make a messenger and a triangular one. But that’s the last of it.  There’s no more… So if you’re a fan of it, don’t wait too long.

I’ve also started planning and cutting loads more bags in preparation for Christmas, it’s not too far off now…  I have a lot of work to do!

New Shopping Bags!

15 08 2008

I finally added some more shopping bags or totes to the website last night.  I love this new batch of bags! They are all so colourful. Though my picture taking abilities leave a lot to be desired.  I really am struggling to get good pictures.  Each time I take loads and pick the best ones, changing the settings until they seem better, even adjusting them a little in photoshop.  Actually now that I mention it, it might be the lighting that’s the issue.  I shall read up on it all and let you know what I learn.  In the mean time I hope that you will have a look at the bags themselves and hopefully you can imagine how much better the bags are in real life.

I simply love this Blue Bag, the material is just so fun and retro.  Actually it’s funny when making this one, I felt like it needed a little something else, either some ribbon or some colourful stitching but I just didn’t know what.  Anything I tried just didn’t look right. I’m glad I didn’t persist and kept it simple.  I think it’s just right the way it is.  Not to much but still not boring.  None of my bags could ever be called boring… :-)

Here are a couple more.

The material I used for the Beige tote you’ve seen before, for example a few months back when some lovely girls came to pick some bags and got one for their colleague. It’s really pretty as it is, so I added very little else so that we could simply appreciate the material.  On the Grey shopping bag on the other hand, I went all out.  The bird print is from Kerstin Lichtblau a local artist, if you remember I made her a custom made bag a few weeks ago. Plus there’s matching satin ribbon and a pink material circle stitched on.  It’s definitely colourful and would make any shopping trip much more fun.

Well, I hope you like these.  I’ll post some Triangular Bags tomorrow…  See you then!
