New Messenger Bags

I got a little carried away with the polka dots. But there’s a reason for it, I think they looked so good! I hope that you will all agree.

Here are a few more hand-printed handmade handbags…  Or should it be hand screen-printed handmade handbags? Ouch!  Or simply handmade handbags? Or again, why not, funky hand-printed handbags? Or hand-printed bags? Though it’s nice and short, it doesn’t sound as cool now does it.

Anyway, here are loads of new one of a kind messenger bags! I printed all of these myself before sewing them.  The colours of the prints and stitching matches the lining.  I am soooo proud of these and am totally motivated again. I am now looking forward to trying out some of the other images.

Polka dots

I’ve finally had a successful go at printing and am SUPER happy with the results.  Though I must admit that it was a very messy affair.  I had wanted to take  pictures when in the middle of it all, but it was simply not possible. I was completely overwhelmed.  It was much more difficult than it looked when I watched my sister doing it.  I actually managed to drop the squeegee in the the paint, not once but twice. I had paint EVERYWHERE!

I must admit that I am really proud of them!  I love the way that they have come out, they are even better than I thought they would be.  The messenger bag also has some ribbon that I got when in Sofia.  The two round bags have the prints and matching stitching. 

I look forward to using the other screens with the other images too, but they all need to be put out in the sun for a while.

Orange

I absolutely love the colour orange! 

It’s such a happy, warm and summery colour.  So, I’ve been working on some bright orange bags for the summer.  I hope they cheer you up if you need it. Or that they simply make you smile. Which is your favourite?

Denim

Denim and the British say or jeans as the Americans say; what ever you want to call it, it is one of my favourite materials to work with.  It is strong and robust, so especially good for bags. Plus it is so versatile, I mean you can match it to just about any colour and it will look good.

Here are my latest creations using denim.

Custom Made

Here are a couple of pictures of my latest custom order. Click here to see other custom made projects.

 

It is a present for a man and I must admit that I’m rather proud of the final product.  Although I’ve used the same materials before, the other bags had always looked much more feminine.  It’s strange, I’ve been trying to think up a Man Bag shape for ages when in reality I think that this Messenger Bag shape actually works for either men or women, it just depends on the material and finish. 

It’s a pity that the colour doesn’t come out as well in pictures as in real life.  The exterior is a green and white tweed with little dots of colour like orange, red and blue.  These are very subtle though.  The lining is the same as the underneath of the flap, striped green.  Plus there’s a tab and circle of forest green cotton.  So all in all there are many little details but nothing girlie.

So, I’m curious, if you are a man, would you wear this bag? Or if the colour isn’t your particular thing, do you like the shape?

Messenger Bags

As of yesterday many new bags can be found on my site: ALEX Original Handbags. 

Here are the new messenger bags, one of my best selling shapes.  As always each one is original and unique. What they all have in common is that they are all practical and robust, as I always use a strong interfacing to reinforce them.  I do this because I am sure that most people are like me and tend to stuff their bags full

I’ve been producing none stop, but have not really been adding any of the new bags to my website as I will be bringing most of them to the fair on Sunday.  Hopefully it all goes super well and don’t  have any to bring back but if there are they should be online by next Monday or Tuesday for you to brows though.
