On Saturday I took part in the ‘Made in happy Germany – Froh Markt’. This is a play on words as flee market in German is Flohmarkt, but Froh, with ‘R’ rather than ‘L’ means happy. So, I participated in the ‘Happy market’. Saying that on the morning itself I almost didn’t go as the wind was blowing into the shutters something crazy. The sun was out thought and shining brightly so I decided to go anyway. But I think that many people were put off by the weather, we ended up being only two exhibitors. You can barley call us that as it was so quiet! A few times my stand and bags flew away. But as we were only two, everyone who walked past took the time to look at our things and it turned out to be quite a good day for sales. The other participant made cute little sheep out of wood and real wool. (Sorry, I forgot to bring my camera.) The first Saturday of every month this ’Froh Markt’ takes place, anyone who makes things may come to sell what they’ve made. The organizers play music, so there’s quite an atmosphere, there’s also coffee, cake and soup for those who are hungry. I had quite a bit of coffee, more to keep warm than for the taste to be honest.
Anyway, come about 18:00 we both packed up and went even though it was meant to last until 19:00. The weather really took a lot out of me. It’s only the next day that I realized just how bad the weather had been. It turns out the it was hurricane strength gusts of wind and there was damages everywhere. They still recommend not to go for walks in the woods are trees are still falling over. And there I was with my little bag display! I feel silly but lucky! Here are a few pictures of the damages done around Germany, these are from from the T-Online internet site, I didn’t actually take these
I wish I could take credit though as they look great!
