Raining on Frankfurt

This morning didn’t look or feel promising at all. After struggling to wake up and get out of bed, I opened the shutters only to find it still dark and raining heavily.  Whilst showering I forced myself to think good and happy thoughts.  Later when getting dressed I could see the beauty in the dreary weather.  I took this picture out of the bedroom window and find it more romantic, even inspiring, rather than depressing.

I thought I should share it with you, so maybe next time it’s raining and you find it sad and depressing, you will stop for a moment, doesn’t matter how short, it can be just a second, to see the beauty in your surroundings.

A break from sewing

I actually needed a bit of a break from sewing today and managed to do loads of other things.  It was a really nice change, today I:

• caught up on emails, it was about time too!
• improved the look on my Shopwindoz page.  It’s a little better but still needs work. Oh and by the way, this is now also in English!!!
• made the changes to the website as mentioned in the previous entry.
• added my blog to tons of directories, check out the ‘Blog Directories’ in the right hand column. I hope it brings over more readers.
• wrote to some sites and blogs about trading links.  If you have a site relevant to mine and would like to trade please contact me! It would be great to hear from you!
• and even applied for Adsense on Google though I’m still not sure I want to do it to be honest.  I personally don’t like sites full of ads right there on the home page.  I would like to add the ads on my links page only, does anyone know if this is possible? I just read a comment saying you couldn’t, so not sure yet if I will.
• Oh and I got rid of approximately a ton of plastic and cardboard packaging removed from our new IKEA settee. 

I never thought that the couches would come flat packed.  I mean most of our furniture was bought at IKEA and I must admit that I LOVE assembling it, but a settee/couch ?!? I was sure that it wouldn’t require any assembly. Wrong!!! It took me about 2 and a half hours yesterday as I was on my own, my husband is on a business trip and I wanted to surprise him.  Annoyingly I managed to break one of the cushion covers.  So I don’t think he’ll be very impressed with having to go exchange it at the weekend. ;-) Though I think I might try and persuade him to wander past the material section, they have very affordable cottons in very funky colours and patterns.  

This sadly means that my horrible workshop has gotten worst rather than better as the old, horrible, hand-me-down settees that we’ve had for about 7 years are now in my workshop until we can sell them ????  No, don’t think so, most probably have to bring them to a dump somewhere.

I’ll add some pictures of some of the new bags tomorrow! And of the new living room once finished!

New Look

I gave my website a face-lift today.  I needed a change and loved the layout of my new brochures, so thought that I could make my home page similar to that.

Another new shop!

I opened a new shop on ‘Shopwindoz’, I’m not so sure about the layout of my shop window yet…  I still need to improve it.  But there are more new bags to check out there if you like! Note though, that the website is in German only. 

Freibank Fashion Fair

The Freibank Fashion Fair website has created a page for each of the exhibitors that will be be participating in next months fair. 

Without wanting to sound arrogant or full of myself, I think mine looks great!  Go check it out by clicking on the photo below.

Also by clicking on ‘AUSSTELLER’ in the left-hand column you can go check out the other exhibitors, there’s some nice stuff… I particularly like the little hooded jacket with red buttons at Flaming Star and the skirts at Zendra Artwear (except it’s not really worth going to their website as none of the pages seem to work.)

New brochures

I’ve finally ordered my brochures!  Up until now I’ve printed out some on my home printer on normal paper then cut them out. It didn’t look the best but at least they were cheap!  There was a picture of my bags, the same one as on the opening bag of my website, plus a short text and contact information. 

But as my goal is to look more professional and to participate in better fairs, I thought it would make a much better impression to get proper brochures / postcards done.  I found a great site that lets you choose and adjust a layout.  Change colours and lets you upload pictures even save it for a while. So, after a few tries with different layouts, colours and pictures. I finally did the deed this morning and ordered 2000.  Here is what they will eventually look like.  Hope you like them!

I love them!  They are super girlie and really me!!! I love the new purple round bag as well. 

On the back hand side of the card is all my contact information and another picture.  I just hope that they will look just as good in really life as on the screen.

Name tags

On Friday I finally received my new name tags!  I think they look great!!  The large, stitched grey ones will be either for the outer flap or exterior pocket whilst the printed ribon will be for the interior pocket. I picked grey/silver as I thought it was the most flexible colour, it goes with everything really; strong colours as well as soft ones.  I think it will make the bags look much more professional that the iron on labels I had been using up until now. What do you think?  Like them???

Happy Valentine’s!

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s day. 

I know a lot of people say it’s become too commercial and that it’s only been invented buy card and chocolate manufactures to sell more.  But you know what, you don’t have to get trapped into it all.  Why not spend a quiet evening just you and the person you love, chatting, catching up on things or having a sexy bath together.  You don’t have to buy anything.  Well, I don’t think you do.  Simply make it special by making time for them or by making them their favorite meal, even if it’s as simple as macaroni and cheese! Simply take the time to tell them just how much you care for them and even why. I wish everyone a happy lovers day. 

If by any chance you are on your own, then do something special for yourself!  Make your own favorite meal, get your favorite take-away or rent your favorite film…  Or even better go out or invite your best friend(s) over for a meal. It will be far better than self pity!
